It helps if you include your device model, OS version, and what you were doing when the problem happened.

Common questions

My trips didn't show up during backfill

Backfill clusters photos by time and place using the timestamps and GPS coordinates already on each photo. A photo with no location data, or a handful of photos spread too thin to read as a trip, may not produce a cluster. Grant Talebound full photo library access if you're asked — a partial selection means backfill can only see part of your roll.

What's a "draft" trip, and why hasn't it synced?

Everything backfill produces is a draft. Drafts stay on your device and are deliberately excluded from sync until you review them and keep the ones that are real trips. Discarding a draft removes it for good; keeping one turns it into a real journal that syncs like anything else you write.

Can I use Talebound without a signal?

Yes — this is the default mode, not a fallback. Every screen reads and writes a database on your device; nothing about writing an entry, attaching a photo, or browsing your journal touches the network. When a connection returns, your writing syncs automatically.

I edited the same entry on two devices — where did my other version go?

Nowhere. When two edits to the same entry reach the server before they've seen each other, Talebound keeps both as separate visible entries rather than picking a winner. Look for the second entry alongside the first — nothing is discarded silently.

How do I get my journal out of the app?

Export produces a zip of your entire journal — Markdown per entry, your photos at full size, and a manifest describing exactly what's included — from the journals screen's menu. It opens on any machine, with or without Talebound installed.

I have a Day One archive — can I bring it in?

Yes. Import a Day One JSON export from the same menu, and your entries, dates, locations, and photos come across as ordinary journal entries. Videos, audio, and PDF attachments in a Day One export aren't imported; the import screen lists what was skipped before you commit.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Delete account. Theaccount deletion page lists exactly what's removed and what isn't.
