Terms of Service

Last updated

These terms cover your use of the Talebound app and this website, both operated byQavren Solutions. By creating an account you agree to what follows. If you install the app from Apple's App Store or Google Play once it's listed there, that store's own standard terms also apply, and these terms add to them rather than replace them.

What Talebound is

Talebound is a personal, offline-first travel journal. It is not a social network: there are no public profiles, no feeds, and nothing you write is shown to anyone but you. The app's screens read and write a database on your device; when you have a connection, that database syncs to a server we operate so your other signed-in devices see the same journal.

Who can use Talebound

You need to be at least 13 years old to create an account. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Sign-in is handled by Qavren Auth, our shared identity provider — keep that credential to yourself, the same as any other sign-in.

Your content

What you write and photograph is yours. To sync it across your devices and store it on your behalf, you give us permission to store, transmit, and back up your journal entries and media as part of operating the service. We don't do anything else with your content — we don't publish it, analyze it for advertising, or share it with anyone else. That permission lasts as long as you keep the content in your account; deleting an entry, or deleting your account, ends it. You confirm that you have the right to store what you store — for example, that a photo is yours to keep.

How sync handles conflicting edits

If you edit the same entry on two devices before they can sync, Talebound does not silently pick a winner and discard the other version. It keeps bothas separate, visible entries, so you can see what each device had and decide what to keep. This is a deliberate design choice, not a bug: your words are never quietly thrown away by the sync process.

Using the service

Please don't:

  • break into, overload, or probe our systems, or try to access an account that isn't yours;
  • scrape, bulk-download, or resell any part of the service, or use it to train a model;
  • use the app to store or transmit content that's illegal where you are.

Your data is yours to take

Talebound can export your entire journal — every entry as a Markdown file, plus your photos at full size, plus a manifest describing exactly what's in the archive — in a format that opens on any machine, with or without Talebound. If you're coming from Day One, Talebound can import its JSON export directly. Neither feature requires contacting us.

Availability

Talebound is an early-stage product, provided as-is. We can't promise the app or its sync service will be available without interruption, and features may change as the product develops. Because your journal lives on your device first, the app keeps working for reading and writing even during a server outage — only sync pauses until the connection is available again.

Disclaimers and liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Talebound is provided without warranties of any kind, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited, and nothing here affects the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the place you live.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app; seedeleting your account for exactly what that removes and what it doesn't. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Changes to these terms

We'll update this page when the terms change, and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll try to say so in the app as well. Continuing to use Talebound after a change means you accept the updated terms.
